The Pedal to the Medal 5K for Addiction and Suicide Awareness is a heartfelt event held annually in October at Gross Lake in Wooster, Ohio. This race was founded by Crystal Horn, daughter of Jerry and Bonnie Kandel, and Amber Sandrock, daughter of Rick and Julia Grossniklaus. Both women tragically lost their only brothers to suicide and addiction. In their grief and determination to create change, they came together to establish this race, aiming to not only raise funds for organizations that fight these everyday challenges but also to create a safe space for those affected by these issues.

This event is more than just a race; it is a day of hope, connection, and support. We are dedicated to raising awareness about the harsh realities of addiction and suicide, providing a space where people can feel welcome, understood, and supported. The Pedal to the Medal 5K is a reminder that no one is alone in their struggle, and we are here to stand together as a community.

We are grateful for the many hands and hearts that help bring this event to life each year. From volunteers to participants, sponsors, and attendees, your contributions make a difference in the lives of those affected by addiction and suicide. Thank you for being part of this journey with us.
